Walking Handstand- amazing funny dog training trick

February 22, 2010 by   Filed under Dog Training

This is a video of Splash’s first lessons at a walking handstand. I was so inspired by Heather and Jesse’s most amazing walking handstand that I thought I would give it a try with Splash. However, no dog can do it cuter than Jesse on justjesse197 ‘s youtube channel :) Other walking handstand inspirations are Hechiasia Zsianz1 Yolle555 If your dog can do a walking handstand that you clicker trained (not one where they are being punished) please post as a video response. I thought I would show the unfinished results as it it quite fun to see Splash figuring it all out. In my living room she is panting because in between the tricks she is getting to play with a balloon and run around the living room like a mad dog (this is her favorite reward in the world). ———- dog training clicker training canine freestyle handstand walking dogs tricks funny dogs using a conditioned reinforcer a secondary reinforcer to reward a new behavior amazing smart dog cool funny dog trick border collie that can walk on it’s two front feet

you can encourage it through positive reinforcement, shaping his ability to do it more often.

give him treats everytime he gives an attempt and increase the closer he gets at mastering it

my dog does it when he pee’s
    lol

that was very cute. dogs have to learn muscle memory to do that trick, and that takes time.
and that music made me laugh a bit too:)

What a wonderful trick! I would love to start working on this with my BC/Aussie. How long did it take Splash to gain the balance to do this? She is a stunningly beautiful dog, by the way.

Wonderful job with Splash! She is such a smart girl ;) She has such great balance and is so focused.

I’m teaching my Splash how to do the handstand as well, and she can do it pretty well against a wall. Do you have any advice on how to get it independant without a wall? Thank you =)

Great Job Splash & Emily!! You two are fantastic! =o) Aww… thanks for being inspired by Jesse ;o) Splash in the BEST walking hand standing dog I have ever seen since teaching Jess the hand stand in motion. She is super cute! Jess loves balloons too. The very end where Splash runs into the camera is hilarious. What cue do you use for the walking hand stand? 5* (I would give you more, but that is the highest =o) ~Heather and Jesse~
