Dog – Home Dental Care

Home dental care for your pet is easier than ever and all it takes is a little awareness of the tools available and a reminder of the health problems that can arise if neglected. Although there is alot you can do to ward off disease and other problems at home, regular checkups from your Vet should always be a part of the prevention program. And of course, if you ever see symptoms of problems in between visits, don’t hesitate to get your little friend some professional attention.

The most common method of supporting your pet’s dental health is providing some sort of bone (real or artificial) the dog can chew on. This action goes a long way to strengthening tooth structure and can eliminate or reduce plaque buildup. Dogs are natural chewers, so this method of enhancing dental health is easy! Recreational raw beef bones or rawhides are also wonderful materials to keep the teeth structures of your dog clean and free from formation of plaque and buildup of bacteria.

The toothbrush is also a valuable tool in the fight against plaque and other bacterial invaders.

Ask your Vet next time you’re in the office for recommended brushes and toothpastes. Because your pet will no doubt swallow whatever you put in its mouth, it’s not advised to use your own personal toothpaste when cleaning his or her teeth. Homemade pastes are also safe and easy to make, being composed mostly of baking soda. Use caution when trying to brush your dog’s teeth! You should know if you have the kind of dog that won’t tolerate it well. Dental wipes may be be an option in this case, also available at pet supply stores and probably your Vet’s office.

From chew toys to toothbrushes, maintaining your dog’s overall health through dental readiness has never been easier! Try these simple techniques combined with regular visits to your Vet’s office for a healthier, happier dog.

OUR DOG BUDDY WRESTLES AND PLAYS BALL WITH OUR BABY WHITE TAIL DEER My brother found this deer alone and malnourished when it was a tiny baby. My family bottle fed the baby, named Theen until he was eating grass. Several months later he’s very socialized with people, our black lab, and our cats. He is free to wander if he likes and we’ve seen him with several herds of whitetail and axis deer. Apparently he fits in just fine with them. He frequently comes back to the house to eat some catfood and play with our dog, Buddy. He doesn’t care much for deer corn. Ellen Degeneres showed this video on her show and website on January 22, 2010! Anderson Cooper 360 showed the video on March 30, 2010! This was on the Bonnie Hunt show on March 31, 2010!

Article by Annette

For many people, the very first and most significant thing you will do with a brand new puppy is put them in dog obedience teaching. That training will make them learn how to behave in most circumstances that they will almost definitely experience at some point in their life. On the other hand, some owners either can’t afford obedience teaching or decide they would rather do it themselves. So, here is a brief rundown of what you can gain from that training to help you figure out if your pet would benefit from it.The Advantages Of home dog obedience trainingFirst of all, dogs in obedience training quickly be able to respond to specific, well delivered instructions. That also means you’ll find out how to give those instructions. Many people ignore their end of the bargain in dog ownership. They find that the responsibility lies with their dog, not independently. Imagine dog guidance as a two way street and it will be far more effective. Here are some examples.Leadership – In obedience training, you’ll find out how to claim your dominance over the dog to train them that you’re in charge at all times and that they must pay attention to you. If these behaviours are replicated in your house, the dog will have a much easier time following your lead. Alpha leadership is the cornerstone of all good training.Basic Instructions – Dog obedience guidance will provide you with basic commands like sit, stay, heel, speak, and quiet – basics that will make your dog more respondent when it really matters. These four behaviours will form the foundation of everything you need to teach them more tricks later. No Biting or Barking – Two of the largest issues that your dog might have are biting and barking. Various levels of dog obedience teaching can cope with these specific behaviours and ensure that your pet does not act out of line. Biting in particular should be dealt with at a young age.Walking – Fed up with having your dog draw you across town? In a good teaching class, you’ll learn to overcome your dog’s actions, keep them from running around on you and ideally make them learn to sit and heel when needed at corners and when other dogs walk by.Dog obedience training is essential in lots of ways as it offers the basis for all your issues that might arise in your house. If your pet is under a year old or simply does not behave properly, consider a class to help you get started.Carrying it Forward At HomeOf course, home dog obedience training is only the start. Your pet may learn a few basic tricks in the class, but if you cannot carry forward what you’ve learned back at home, good luck maintaining that control. You should be consistent, show your dog that you’re in charge constantly and make sure everyone in the household can also follow along with whatever you’ve taught your dog in teaching.Keep in mind that your dog will only do what it is taught to do. You must be consistent, reassuring and effective at maintaining the directions you give. The second you start waffling or forgetting to reassert your instructions, your pet will start to revert to the original behaviours that you worked so hard to train them out of.

The Best Home Invasion Deterrent Is An Electronic Barking Dog

Consistent with law enforcement authorities fact, one of the most important ways for criminals invading your home is to keep a dog now. I have no doubt saved me from my dog attacked a few years ago, when an intruder tried to invade my privacy at 3:00 am.

Everyone says that the dog bark worse than its bite heard. The bark is usually enough to stop a thief from entering your refuge. It does not matter what kind of bark, it is not. An unwanted intruders will a dog barking to deter any size.

The authors do not want to be careful. Any noise will attract too much control, if they try, in a house without being noticed.

My shepherd, Venus was a gift from God several years ago. She was my best friend and my life might have been saved if they eliminated a potential rapist hunted with their bark in the middle of the night when he tried to break my door.

God has blessed us with dogs to remind us of his love for us. He gave us full of all the qualities of unconditional love, including protection. Dogs are always loyal, forgiving, loving creatures on Earth.

But not everyone wants to own a dog. Maybe your lifestyle just can’t support the needs of a dog, but you would like unwanted visitors to think you have a dog in the house. There really are products out there that will do just that.

One of these devices is called a Barking Dog Alarm System. It uses a built in sensor, which is strong enough to detect movement through any type of wall barrier. When it catches a trespasser within its range of 10 to 20 feet, it announces the arrival with an unfriendly bark, and the closer the visitor approaches, the more boisterous the bark becomes. No intruder is going to stick around to see if it is a real dog or not.

Of course the advantage of owning a barking dog alarm rather than a live barking dog is in the long term cost. You pay a one time up front fee for the electronic dog, plus back-up batteries in case the power goes out. Compare that cost to a real live dog. You don’t have to buy food, pay for vet bills, have it groomed or board it when you’re out of town. The benefit is that you can go out of town for as long as you want with the peace of mind in knowing that your electronic dog will be watching your home until you get back – the 24 hour watchdog that never leaves his post. Even more reasons to choose this “dog” over a real one if you are so inclined are that you won’t have to take it for walks, or pick up poop or replace plants that have been destroyed by digging.

So all in all, if you are not wanting to deal with a real dog or just can’t have one in your life right now, this electronic barking dog might be just what you need. In these economically difficult times when desperate people are looking for easy ways to get money, it is important to have whatever means you can to protect everything you own and especially you and your loved ones.

And if you want to set it to something else to alert you to a visitor, there is an alarm or chime setting.

However, even though it can be expensive and time consuming to own a dog, I could never live without one. I’d like to believe I’m here today because of a dog named Venus.

How it works:

Like other GPS tracking devices, RoamEO utilizes signals from the Satellite network to locate where your dog is. However, it is the only GPS tracking product on the market that does not use cell towers. This is important, as the signal from cell towers can have long delays and ‘dead areas’- which could mean life or death for your dog.

The chances that your dog will go missing are increased if these situations exist with your dog family:

New to your home

New to you

In the care of a dog walker/petsitter

You have visitors of any type

Learning/does not know ‘Come!’

Learning how to walk on leash/tug/pull hard on leash

Wanders/ Jumps fences

Dashes out the front door

Dashes out the car door

Critter chaser

Canine Kingdom Awards the RoamEO the Canine Kingdom Seal of Approval, and the Dog Safety Product of the Year for the following reasons:

1. Works Real Time:

RoamEO sends a signal every 3 SECONDS. Most ‘pet trackers’ work with a GPS/Cellular network, that sends a signal every 3 MINUTES at best or even in a day or two at worst – depending on your cell service. In addition, you need to call every time you want an update on where your pet is headed.

This could be the difference between life and death. We could stop right there, but there’s more.

Training a dog is like building a house. If the foundation isn’t solid, every effort made at gaining dog obedience will yield unpredictable and oftentimes short-term results. So, how do you build a strong foundation for effective dog training?  You NEED to establish yourself as the alpha dog and gain your dog’s respect.Â

The theory sounds simple enough. However, a MAJORITY of dog owners will unknowingly flub this crucial component and wind up with a dog that is always fighting them to gain the top spot on the pack hierarchy. It’s by far the most common dog training obstacle that sabotages the entire relationship.

That said, you don’t have to fall victim to the hardships of an unruly dog. There really is a scientific process, based on rules, that will steer you out of the funk of a rebellious pooch. This process for establishing alpha status is tied together by a system of controlling your dog’s 3 environmental outlets – food, rest and socialization.

When you restrict or control all of these three facets to your puppy’s life, he’ll soon understand that he is dependent upon you for his freedom. With this dependency comes a respect and obedience for your command. The method is simple, effective and creates a fast bond between the both of you.

Let’s talk about the first environmental control, food…

Food

You’re going to control his food by determining when, where and what your dog eats. This means, feeding at set times in specific amounts. A key to this discipline is NOT responding to begging. There is no and I mean NO feeding from the table or giving human food of any kind.

As much as you love your dog, during the initial phases of dog training, you must enforce a separation in the hierarchy of your status. Don’t level the playing field by making him feel entitled to eat the same food you do. This specific facet of his life (eating) is directly associated with survival. This process is going to solidify his correlation between surviving and depending on your care.Â

He NEEDS you to eat.  This dependency will enforce his instinct to please you through obedience. You are the alpha and YOU decide when the pack eats.

And this is just the first factor. The next two are just as crucial…

Â

Rest

Other than being a necessity for living, rest is also a privilege. It’s an outlet for relaxation and enjoyment. Control this variable by deciding WHERE your dog sleeps. That means no allowing him up on the couch or bed. Those are YOUR resting areas. The alpha dog decides where and when the rest of the pack sleeps. You control the pace of the pack and the level of activity. Administer this control by setting limits on where your dog may rest. This principle is something that inspired crate training. If you decide against crate training, that’s fine. However, you absolutely must create limits and rules for your dog’s resting habits.

Socialization

This is perhaps the BIGGEST variable that you need to control. It’s also one of the more difficult ones to enforce because it takes a lot of diligence and patience.

When your dog approaches you, you need to force obedience before rewarding him with affection. That means, when your dog nuzzles his head into your hand or lap, before petting him or speaking in a playful pitchy tone, you should issue commands to exercise his submission.

Having him sit, lay down, give paw, stay or heel are essential tricks that you should constantly train him on. The true power of these commands isn’t impressing your friends or visitors. The power lies in exercising your dog’s attention and enforcing your dominance.

When you’re first training your dog, your love should be treated as a reward or it will be taken for granted. Once you have an obedient puppy and you’re confident that this respect will not go astray, you can dispense your affection without thought. In the beginning though, you’ll want to follow this guideline for best results.

These are hard and fast rules. Many people I encounter don’t understand them at first. However, nearly EVERYONE who enforces them experiences almost immediate results (within a week usually).

Keep at it and continue your training knowing that your dog WANTS to be led. Following a pack leader is the most natural instinct your dog has. Facilitate this need by becoming the alpha dog and take the anxiety out of his actions.

Really, this is just one piece to the pie. There are so many specific tactics used to correct bad dog behavior problems along with shaping the relationship you desire. For an amazing, FREE Dog Training Video, check out www.Dog-Training-Works.com right now and watch my step by step video, Dog Training Basics. There you’ll learn the fundamental rules for realizing the kind of dog obedience that most people only dream of. Check it out now and start training the RIGHT way!

I am a big believer in Crate Training. Crate Training is a wonderful technique to use to housebreak your new puppy. The days of rubbing your poor puppy’s nose in the accident he made on your carpet are hopefully long gone. Please don’t use this method. It does not housebreak your pet!! Using the Crate method is easy for you as well as your pet. It also can create the den like atmosphere that your pet requires to feel safe and secure. A crate should be your pets sanctuary. It should never, never be used to punish your pet. Children should also be taught to respect your pets crate. Don’t let your child play in the crate or bother the pet when he is in the crate. A crate is not meant to be a place to keep your pet in all day. As your puppy gets a bit older he needs to play and release some energy. A pet that is couped up all day will no doubt be a crazy, rambunctious menace when he is let out. He needs to release energy, so please don’t keep him locked up all day. Play with them, love them, make them part of your family. If you don’t, why did you get a pet in the first place? Right??

Crate Training is a great tool for raising your puppy into the well adjusted adult dog we all want, but he also needs to be taught manners and obedience as well. I don’t want you to think all you have to do is buy a crate and presto you have a wonder dog! A puppy is a big commitment just like having a child. Remember depending on the breed, your dog will be with you 9 to 15 years. The more time and effort, love, and training you give your pet equals the better chance you will have a well adjusted great dog.

At Busters we have information on how to successfully Crate Train your pet. We have all the products to help you create the den like atmosphere he needs. The first item you will need is a good crate. We have many styles and many sizes of the Midwest Dog Crates. To create the den atmosphere for your pet we have Pet Dreams Cratewear Sets which fit all of our crate styles and sizes. (Set includes dog bed, bumper pad, and crate cover). You are probably thinking, why does my dog need a bumper pad? Many times puppies have gotten their legs caught or stuck in the slats of the crate. (Just like a baby in a crib) The puppy panics and ends up hurting himself. Why let that happen if we can prevent it. Really, that is all you will need to get started. As always, if you have any questions or suggestions please contact us. We would love to hear from you.

At http://busterscaninesupplyoutlet.com we give you the information and all the products you will need to accomplish successful crate training. We want your puppyhood experience to be a pleasant one. So enjoy, love, and play with your new pet. The well adjusted adult dog you will raise him into will be with you for many years. So make sure you take the time in the begining stages of his life to get you there.

Everyone loves to have a dog at home. But has your dog been through obedience training? Do you cringe when your dog jumps all over your house guests or when you neighbor knocks on your door to complain about something your dog just did? Don’t worry, dog training can be fast, easy and efficient.

No longer do you have to endure weeks and weeks of classes to train your dog. Who wants to sit with a big group of dogs, spending your time keeping the peace between your dog and your classmates’ pets? Forget about embarrassing and expensive sessions with a private trainer, where afterwards you feel like you have gotten nowhere with your dog. Now it is simple and easy to train your dog in your home.

How To Train A Dog, Simply

To train a dog does not have to be difficult. There are a couple of basic things that can help you train your dog at home.

- Start with the basics when a dog is a puppy. Good behavior is something dogs can learn at a young age, making obedience training when they get older much easier.

- Rewards and praise are the best way to have a more obedient dog. Offer treats when your dog does something he or she is supposed to do.

- Don’t always reach for food as a reward. This can lead to an unhealthy diet in your dog. You can also reward a good dog with attention, praise, and toys.

- Repeat what you want the dog to do until he or she does it. This is a basic dog training technique that again reinforces behavior.

- Do something every day to obedience train the dog. It does not have to take a long amount of time, in fact shorter sessions are better.

- Don’t expect too much, too fast. It takes work and consistency to train a dog properly.

- You are the best person to train your dog. Obedience training is about building a relationship between a dog and its’ owner.

- Obedience training does not have to be all work, it can also be fun for you and your pet! It is an opportunity to build a relationship with your dog that will last throughout the dog’s life. And you will reap the benefits of having a well behaved pet.

Why Obedience Training Is Important

Obedience training is an important part of being a responsible dog owner. Without training, your dog will find it hard to enjoy other animals, enjoy your family or enjoy other people. Other people will be constantly complaining to you about your dog’s behavior, leaving you embarrassed and spending even less time with your dog. And even worse, you will be constantly yelling at your dog, making the dog further confused about how to behave. Your dog needs guidance and you, as an owner, can train a dog, easily. Take charge of your situation with your dog. Your dog must respect you as the dominant personality. Asserting yourself will lead to a healthy relationship between you and your pet.

There are good resources online to help you train your dog. Websites can offer tips and tricks to help with obedience training that is easy, effective and helpful to both you and your dog. You can find whole dog training courses dedicated to helping you and your dog build a better relationship between one another.

The key to obedience training is consistency. By giving your dog a consistent environment, where she or he understands the rules of behavior, you can have an obedient dog in no time at all.
