@meankid16 u could give him/her a toy or maybe just try petting him/her.
And maybe the next time u see ur vet, ask about some healthy treats that might fade into ur dogs liking. That same thing happened to my dog
my shih tzu doesnt like dog treats ANY kind of dog treats. Do you think i could teach him tricks without treats? What do you think should i do for him to like dog treats?
Thanks for your question – the Shake a Paw only took us a couple of days to learn. It’s a pretty simple trick really and Macy already knew a fair few other tricks before this one.
my dog looks like that but hes shih tzu and pekineese, i have 2 of them they are both brothers and one of them look more pekineese or how everu say it and the other looks more shih tzu, the one that looks like shi tzu though, when i get a treat he will sit for 2 seconds then jump up bark and keep jumping around, hard to train -.-
That’s a tough one, without actually seeing what Gizmo is doing.
If possible I would click and treat any slight movement of the foot. Try not to tap the foot but just leave your hand above the foot and wait for any slight movement. The moment you see a movement you should proceed to click and treat.
Hopefully Gizmo will eventually get the idea and start offering you his paw.
Gizmo is at a point now where I can lift his paw and he’ll set it directly into my hand. But I can’t seem to get him to lift his paw by himself. I’ve tapped his paw and everything, but it doesn’t seem to work. Any advice?
Only problem is that your dog is likely to come across the sound and sight of pens at many times when not in a training context. Where’s a clicker is unique and distinctive.
You basically need to get your dog used to/conditioned to you touching him – anytime and anywhere.
Grab some treats (and a clicker if you like) and start touching him on the feet, on the ears, in his mouth and anywhere else. When he relaxes and lets you touch him, without mouthing you, you should send a treat his way.
When he mouth’s your hand, with-hold the treat – he’ll work out before long that it is much better to relax and let you touch him.
when ever i try to put my hand on my dogs paw he bites my hand hes a 6 month old german shepherd. hes obidient but he wont let me touch his paw.
what should i do.
Most pet stores carry clickers these days – otherwise any of the online pet stores will be able to deliver one for you. You can pick them up for a couple of bucks.

You can use a pen, it will work.

Can you just use a pen??
Yes this is fairly common.
