I just squat down a little bit and open my arms and growl at my best friends Akita Kioko he comes running it’s funny. He knows me well too. He got out of the back yard one day and that’s the only way I could get him to come to me with traffic around I was so worried he would get hit but I kept calling his name after I squated down and growled at him. I thought I was going to have to start running back to the house when he started running towards me. LOL I gave a big hug and lead him to safety.

I have one comment to make, working dogs will repay you if you work them.

You can get your Akita to come by standing about 10 feet away. Then in a high soft and happy voice say come, you should slightly bend forward with your hands motioning to come, moving your fingers up and down touching your palms. At the same time walking back.

    haha…you’re the fool.

The first thing anyone should do before getting a dog is find out what kind of dog suits them. Often people think a dog is a dog and that couldn’t be further from the truth. Akita’s are very strong willed, you must be stubborn and consistent because they will test you and if they fond you to be lacking in leadership they will take over.

Specifically. Take your treats and tell them to sit. walk away slowly backward. at first walk two feet call in a cheeful tone and give them the treat. Keep doing this till your 20 feet away and their sitting. does two things teaches to sit when you tell them but also reinforces the call behavior

  13. TheMaluminse says:

You must be more stubborn. If she does something shes not supposed to or doesnt mind put her in time out. VERRy effective for more girl she hates bein seperate. The older they are the bigger the challenge will be to change the order. Im sorry to say but it sounds like your the beta.

I was thinking about this and it dawned on me this very very important fact. Who is the alpha? do you take her food away while shes eating? does she control where you go when you walk? Its well known that Akitas wish to be Alpha and will be if allowed. Your Akita will never listen if your not the alpha.

  15. TheMaluminse says:

My girl comes 98% of the time. Once even when she was chasing a cat she stopped mid pursuit to come. I dont remember specifically. Im farily certain that since she was very young I always used treats. Sometimes she doesnt come right away so my call is a bit more cross if she looks like she wants to ignore me. I never hit her and am verrry affectionate to her. I think the combo may be the trick.

I wish I had an idea but I can tell you I am glad you can feel our pain our akita is almost 2 and she will not come when you call her AT ALL EVER. I am just glad to know others have the same problem
