Emerging coverage from Japan offers a moving example of ultimate dog loyalty, and clearly illustrates the challenges faced by animal victims of the earthquake and tsunami. It has been said that the dogs were picked up after the video was filmed, and are in the care of a local shelter. Updates and pics will be offered at the link above in the coming days, as available. Translation of conversation in video: We are in Arahama area. Looks like there is a dog. There is a dog. He looks tired and dirty. He must have been caught in the tsunami. He looks very dirty. He has a collar. He must be someone’s pet. He has a silver collar. He is shaking. He seems very afraid. Oh, there is another dog. I wonder if he is dead. Where? Right there. There is another dog right next to the one sitting down. He is not moving. I wonder. I wonder if he is alright. The dog is protecting him. Yes. He is protecting the dog. That is why he did not want us to approach them. He was trying to keep us at bay. I can’t watch this. This is a very difficult to watch. Oh. Look. He is moving. He is alive. I am so happy to see that he is alive. Yes! Yes! He is alive. He looks to be weakened. We need to them to be rescued soon. We really want them rescued soon. Oh good. He’s getting up. It is amazing how they survived the tremendous earthquake and tsunami. It’s just amazing that they survived through this all. Want to donate …

All Concerning Dog Dental Care
Looking after a dog isn’t that troublesome, a little reading and a lot of logic is what you wish to relinquish your pet the utmost care it deserves. One space that we tend to neglect though as a rule is dental care. Some people assume that a dog’s dental hygiene is not that important. Dental care is vital as much as overall health, nutrition and physical activity is. One reason why you wish to pay shut attention to the current matter is because you do not need to deal with dental disease later on. Do not suppose that a dog desires to possess bad breath, no it isn’t normal! If you don’t brush your dog’s teeth, plaque goes to accumulate and it can flip into tartar or worst it can develop calculus and this may cause periodontal disease, oral pain, tooth loss and bad breath. If taken for granted, the bacteria in your dog’s mouth will eventually cause heart and kidney problems. If you see any signs that your dog is beginning to develop dental disease, address it at the soonest time possible. But then again, prevention continues to be better than cure.
There are some biscuits, bones and chew-eez that are specifically created to manage tartar accretion above the gumline however remember that solely regular brushing can keep the bacteria from reaching the gumline. Experts say that you wish to brush your dog’s teeth at least twice a week. Professional cleanings ought to be done every year or every 3 years. You think that it’s arduous? The great news is that it’s even easier to brush a dog’s teeth than your own because theirs are spaced more widely thus don’t worry regarding flossing. A toothbrush can actually reach as much as 90% of the areas that should be cleaned.
How much toothbrush are you imagined to use? If you cannot grab a toothbrush created specifically for a dog, you can simply use a regular one however build sure it’s created of a soft and nylon bristle. If you have a smaller dog, a child-sized brush can do. If you are not grossed about it, you’ll buy a finger brush as this will enable you to access exhausting-to-reach areas. Do not use regular toothpaste as a result of dogs cannot rinse and spit once brushing. Purchase something that’s formulated for a dog that is safe to swallow. Sometimes, a dog’s toothpaste comes in chicken or beef flavor and it contains water, sorbitol, silica, Trisodium EDTA, Methylparaben, cellulose gum, propylparaben and titanium dioxide. Keep your dog calm and relaxed by stroking his neck area. It will additionally facilitate if you’ll let it style the toothpaste before you brush its teeth. Pull back the lips and cheeks and continuously brush in circular motion.

Dog – Home Dental Care

Home dental care for your pet is easier than ever and all it takes is a little awareness of the tools available and a reminder of the health problems that can arise if neglected. Although there is alot you can do to ward off disease and other problems at home, regular checkups from your Vet should always be a part of the prevention program. And of course, if you ever see symptoms of problems in between visits, don’t hesitate to get your little friend some professional attention.

The most common method of supporting your pet’s dental health is providing some sort of bone (real or artificial) the dog can chew on. This action goes a long way to strengthening tooth structure and can eliminate or reduce plaque buildup. Dogs are natural chewers, so this method of enhancing dental health is easy! Recreational raw beef bones or rawhides are also wonderful materials to keep the teeth structures of your dog clean and free from formation of plaque and buildup of bacteria.

The toothbrush is also a valuable tool in the fight against plaque and other bacterial invaders.

Ask your Vet next time you’re in the office for recommended brushes and toothpastes. Because your pet will no doubt swallow whatever you put in its mouth, it’s not advised to use your own personal toothpaste when cleaning his or her teeth. Homemade pastes are also safe and easy to make, being composed mostly of baking soda. Use caution when trying to brush your dog’s teeth! You should know if you have the kind of dog that won’t tolerate it well. Dental wipes may be be an option in this case, also available at pet supply stores and probably your Vet’s office.

From chew toys to toothbrushes, maintaining your dog’s overall health through dental readiness has never been easier! Try these simple techniques combined with regular visits to your Vet’s office for a healthier, happier dog.

OUR DOG BUDDY WRESTLES AND PLAYS BALL WITH OUR BABY WHITE TAIL DEER My brother found this deer alone and malnourished when it was a tiny baby. My family bottle fed the baby, named Theen until he was eating grass. Several months later he’s very socialized with people, our black lab, and our cats. He is free to wander if he likes and we’ve seen him with several herds of whitetail and axis deer. Apparently he fits in just fine with them. He frequently comes back to the house to eat some catfood and play with our dog, Buddy. He doesn’t care much for deer corn. Ellen Degeneres showed this video on her show and website on January 22, 2010! Anderson Cooper 360 showed the video on March 30, 2010! This was on the Bonnie Hunt show on March 31, 2010!

Care For Older Dogs

As your dog gets older, you will witness noticeable differences in him or her physically. Their teeth will begin to wear down and will change color. Their eyes may begin to change color as well and start to appear gray or blue. The tone of their muscle will decrease and they won’t be able to get around as fast or as easily as they once could. As your dog ages, they also will begin to experience various illnesses and chronic health problems.

Because dogs are often like part of the family, you will want to be able to care for them as best as you can and in a manner that the dog is still experiencing a good quality of life. You want to make sure that you are very vigilant and that you watch them closely. Study them and see if they begin to act differently, or if they seem to be in pain. It will be more important than ever to get checkup visits on a regular basis so that your vet can pinpoint any serious problems.

You may want to do this as often as two times every year. These exams should include a blood workup.

If you are not sure of what warning signs to look for as your dog gets older, consider the following list.

-Your dog suddenly needs a lot more water than normal
-Your dog begins to throw up
-Your dog starts to gain or lose weight.
-Your dog suddenly has a change in their stools
-Your dog may have a harder time urinating
-Your dog’s stools suddenly become very loose or contain blood
-Your dog may begin going to the bathroom in the house
-Your dog may appear weak in the leg area or have a hard time walking, running or sitting down
-Your dog’s coat may begin to look dry, flake or lose fur
-Your dog may begin having a difficult time eating and digesting food.
-Your dog may exhibit behavior changes. They may be more cranky then usual.
-Your dog may begin coughing
-Your dog may begin to have trouble hearing
-Your dog suddenly becomes easily labored

Many dogs, as they get older, begin to suffer from diseases of the heart and kidneys. They will begin to have problems with their teeth and perhaps even their thyroid. If a dog is able to receive lots of good care, they can live for quite awhile even up to 15 years. However, this will differ based on their breed. Dogs that are neutered or spayed generally live longer. Some breeds of dogs such as Poodles, Airedale Terriers and Cocker Spaniels may live up to 20 years or more. Again, It depends on the breed, the individual dog and how well they are taken care of.

We thank all our friends across the world who love and support Allie in TNP. She has been part of my mountain and desert adventures her whole life. She just came out of surgery for an ACL repair. Here we listen to her surgeon who explains the surgical results and considerations as of 4/19/11. I put it to video of Allie the Mountain in action and hope she will be ready for future adventures with us. Other updates will follow. Thanks again.

Finding Dog Care Resources Online

We all love our dogs, and this alone is a good enough reason to care for our dog, but there are many other reasons that we should all offer dog care to our pets, for example the health and happiness of our dog is the first thing to be noticed, and secondly learning how to provide this dog care yourself will increase your relationship and bond no end.

There are many online resources for dog care available, but I would like to show you a few extracts from a book that has everything rolled into one on the way of dog grooming and explain how to´s, techniques, tips and an explanation of the benefits for you and you dog that can be obtained through correct dog care at home.

We all know that there is more to dog care than a brush through there coat – although this is an important part of dog care I would like to drawer your attention to other areas and activities that can result in the mentioned benefits and play a great part in dog care;

Eyes and Ears -

Once you have mastered grooming the coat you can move on to the next stage of grooming, caring for the eyes and ears – again this is not a difficult task, but requires a little more care than the coat.

As with humans the eyes, and especially the ears are delicate organs in a dog and we have to be sure we can help our dog benefit, minimise the risks, and at the same time ensure we are not creating any danger for our pet.

Eye Care

The importance of eye care is something that many dog owners do not take into consideration as much as should be, the general eye infections suffered by dogs are caused by bacteria which has been allowed to seep into the eye, so regular cleaning is a must – also whilst cleaning will be the best opportunity to identify the most common eye problem for our pets, Conjunctivitis, this can be noticed by a redness around the eye and a greenish, or yellowish discharge…

Dental Hygiene – A part of dog care many owners omit!

Much of the dental hygiene crosses from grooming into health care, I have tried to separate the two but parts go hand in hand, however there will be another book in the series shortly that will cover health care and mouth issues in your pet deeper, for now we will try to keep with the grooming topic, and base this section around dental hygiene for a healthier, and better looking dog without too much consideration for the health issues – although these are a main factor in dental and mouth care.
