@lfamilytube I’ve been training Mac since I got him at 8 weeks, though most of this video was achieved by about 6-8 months.

@Muruagogo We have done obedience trials before, but not anymore. He’s quite a stressy dog around other dogs, and I’ve decided he doesn’t fancy it enough to continue.

Mac is eight years old now!

    Thanks for your comment. :)

Very nice little dog and obviously a happy worker…. well done to you both. Do you do obedience trials or agility with him?

    nice fanny pack….lol

I trained my border terrier to a similar standard by the time she was a year old. And then we start agility trials with her. They learn very fast

    WOW!
This dog is pretty good :D really impressive, actually. I’m usually fond of JRTs but I love Borders after watching “Good Boy!” (That was Hubble in the movie.)Anyways, I found this video very inspiring.

Do you mind telling me, how long did it take for you to get this cute border terrier up to this level?

  7. MacDogald says:

Mac doesn’t really care about other people, is okay when working around dogs (sometimes will get distracted watching recalls in the next ring when we are supposed to be doing a recall!), LOVES to chase cats. ;) Mac is not really distracted by much when he is ‘working’, as he is here. However, he will chase cats, harass passer-byers, and confront dogs when he is not in ‘work mode’.

How well does MacDogald do around distractions such as squirrels, dogs, cats, other people, etc?

I have a terrier too. He’s name is Beckham and he’s alittle dumb. He’s not so obedient but loves playing soccer. I guess every dog is different, I still love him

Wow! Amazing! I can’t belive he just did that for you! Our dog is 4 years old and we still haven’t mastered getting him to do a simple ‘sit’ without having a chunk of cheese in our hand! I would love some tips on training them!

Seeing this dog work, can you imagine this, we have a 2 year old borderterrier, who changed of owner three! times.(dog wouldn’t listen) We’re the lucky ones to have her now!

  20. unclenelvis says:

good on you. I’ve had border terriers for years. I find them pretty untrainable but so long as they can keep up with my horse I’m happy

  21. 1999gnome says:

I have 2 borders they are smart dogs and really easily trainable. Keen to do good too! The only trick I see in this video is the food! LOL they’ll do anything for a treat! this one is a great little ambassador for the breed – terriers can be trained!

Wow, that’s amazing. Is that magic? Or digitally edited? There must be a trick to it!
